About this distance

Far's 319.7km covers the main, contiguous Ozark Highlands Trail (Lake Fort Smith to the Buffalo River). A real, separate 31.6-mile Sylamore Section also exists (its own trail, Ozark National Forest) but isn't connected to the main trail by hikeable tread -- its maintaining association describes it as isolated from the main OHT until a planned ~700mi Trans-Ozark Trail eventually links them. Not an import defect.

Route geometry from OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL), reviewed against published mileage by Far. Reviewed August 2, 2026. Trail conditions, permits, and hazards change — verify before you go.
