Far — Copyright & DMCA Policy
DRAFT — requires review by qualified counsel before publication. Published at [/legal/copyright].
Respecting copyright
Users may upload photos and GPX files and publish gear lists via share links. You must own or have the right to use anything you upload. Commercial map data, guidebook tracks, and other proprietary route files are frequently license-restricted — do not upload them unless you hold the rights.
Reporting infringement (DMCA notice)
If you believe content available through Far infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated agent:
[DMCA AGENT NAME] [ADDRESS] [copyright@far.app] [REQUIRED FOR US SAFE HARBOR: register this agent with the US Copyright Office (dmca.copyright.gov) — registration is a launch prerequisite for §512 protection.]
Your notice must include: (1) identification of the copyrighted work; (2) the URL or share link of the allegedly infringing material; (3) your contact information; (4) a statement of good-faith belief that the use is unauthorized; (5) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and you are authorized to act for the rights holder; and (6) your physical or electronic signature.
We will remove or disable access to material identified in a valid notice, notify the user who posted it, and record the action. EU/UK users may use the same address for notice-and-action requests; we will confirm receipt and inform you of the outcome (Digital Services Act Arts. 16–17, as applicable).
Counter-notice
If your content was removed and you believe the removal was mistaken, you may send a counter-notice containing: identification of the removed material and its prior location; a statement under penalty of perjury of good-faith belief the removal was a mistake or misidentification; your name, address, and phone number; consent to the jurisdiction of [the federal district court for your district / [VENUE] if outside the US]; and your signature. If the complainant does not notify us of a court action within 10–14 business days, we may restore the material.
Repeat infringers
Accounts that repeatedly infringe will be terminated. We track valid notices per account for this purpose.
