Far is built by a solo founder — a backpacker who spent years planning trips across spreadsheets, PDFs, and half a dozen different apps, none of which actually handled the whole job: real routes, real weather, real gear weight, all in one place.
After not finding a planning tool that was good enough for how he actually plans trips, he built one. Far is the result — route intelligence, day-by-day timelines, weather, permits, and gear, built on real data instead of guesses, and honest about what it doesn't know.
It's early. Far is one person's ongoing work, not a large team or a funded company — which is also why it stays narrow and specific instead of trying to be everything.
Free and Pro
The free plan covers 2 full trips, 3 gear loadouts, and 5 questions to Far AI — plan routes, weather, permits, and gear for both trips, no time limit, no card required. Every new account also gets a 7-day trial of Pro, which removes those limits: unlimited trips, loadouts, and AI questions, plus trip sharing. After 2 trips and the trial end, older trips beyond the first 2 become read-only — not deleted, and never held hostage; you can always see what you built.
