About this distance
Berg Lake Trail is an out-and-back trail (no loop, no shuttle) — hikers return via the same route to reach their vehicle safely, so the real distance to plan for is the round trip. BC Parks' own official trail map (https://nrs.objectstore.gov.bc.ca/kuwyyf/berg_lake_trail_map_fce7c2b377.pdf) publishes a cumulative-distance table by campsite: Berg Lake itself sits at 21km one-way from the Kinney Lake trailhead (the drawn route continues 2km further, one-way, to Robson Pass — 23km). distanceKm here is the round trip to Berg Lake (21km x 2 = 42km), matching the trail's own name and matching AllTrails' independently-measured ~40km figure within a normal margin. One-way distance was previously stored (19.2km, from the imported OSM geometry alone) — a real undercount against BC Parks' 23km one-way to the route's actual endpoint, plus missing the out-and-back doubling entirely. Route geometry is left unchanged (drawn one-way, Kinney Lake to Robson Pass) — same 'authoritative number, real geometry, disclosed via note' pattern already used for Wonderland Trail.
Route geometry from OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL), cross-checked against Government of British Columbia. Reviewed July 28, 2026. Trail conditions, permits, and hazards change — verify before you go.
